Dental Schemes
PRSI
Everyone who pays PRSI, both salaried and self=employed, is entitled to a free dental check-up per year. Since October 2017, they are also entitled to a annual scale and polish at a subsdifsed fee of 15 euros.Please contact us to take an appointment for your free examination. Bring along your PPS number and we will check your eligibility for you.
Medical Card Scheme
Full medical card holders aged 16 years and over are entitled to the following dental treatments covered under the scheme
- One check-up per year
- Two fillings per year
- Root canal treatment on certain teeth
- Extractions as necessary
- Prescriptions as necessary
- Full and partial dentures and relines (on approval from HSE)
Other treatments may be available on the medical card scheme depending on your health status and previous treatment. Patients with diabetes, epilepsy, cancer and joint replacement are entitled to an extended range of treatments. Please inform us of your condition and we will let you know about your entitlements.

Tax Relief
Tax relief is available on a range of specific dental treatments including:
- Crowns
- Veneers/Rembrandt Type Etched Fillings
- Tip Replacing
- Gold Posts/Fibreglass posts
- Gold Inlays
- Endodontics - Root Canal Treatment
- Certain periodontal treatment
- Orthodontic Treatment
- Surgical Extraction of Impacted Wisdom Teeth
- Bridges
Please note that tax relief is not available for the cost of scaling, extraction and filling of teeth or the provision of artificial teeth or dentures.

To claim tax relief, a Med 2 form needs to be filled in which can be downloaded here or you can pick up one in our surgery.
Garda Medical Aid
Certain dental treatments are covered by the Garda Medical Aid Scheme. The full list of eligible treatments is available here. Dental charts will be completed in our surgery to allow you to claim back expenses.
Prison Officers Medical Aid
